Sean is co-founder and CEO of Outdoor Box Office – Event Staff Canada Ltd. Sean brings 20 years of experience to Event Staff having been General Manager and CEO of OBO Security & Event Services, a firm specializing in security and servicing to mass audience events. AuthentiGATE is the brainchild of co-founders Jim Wenzel and Sean Farnell, as the duo saw a real need for a portable solution to the collection and reporting of admission revenue for large-scale public events, exhibitions and festivals. Sean has been instrumental in the design and has worked closely with the AuthentiGATE IT Team to create a product to service the needs of the any sized event. Sean is a very hands on executive who is often seen scanning tickets, collecting admissions, counting daily revenue or even parking cars at many of Event Staff’s events.
As Partner and CFO of Event Staff Canada (ESC), Jim’s main focus is the development of AuthentiGate and the growth of Event Staff Canada. With more than 20 years experience in Event Management and having been involved with over 1000 events has helped Jim, and his business partner Sean Farnell, develop a superior understanding of the Special Event Industry. Jim believes strongly in the ‘hands-on’ approach with regards to clients and staff and the ‘do anything to assist in the success of our client’ philosophy during events to ensure a great working relationship for everyone. Supported by Sean and an excellent Senior Management Team, Jim focuses his energy on Cash and Data controls during events. Accuracy of this information is vitally important to our clients and a major key to ESC’s success.
Mike Forster is co-founder and programmer at Shared Logic Inc. He holds honours degrees in Computer Science, Mathematics, Zoology, Botany, and Chemistry, and has been writing computer software since 1989. Mike has crawled into the dens of black bears with a syringe and rubber mallet, crawled into the dungeons of Unix kernels with a C compiler, used the Internet before it was called that, grokked (To understand profoundly through intuition or empathy.) the essence of the Lisp meta-circular interpreter, finds it curious that Mark Zuckerberg was born in the year that names George Orwell’s famous novel, and isn’t surprised when people still curse computers even when they’re called iPad. If you ask nicely, he will play you a 200-year-old Irish jig on his flute.
Wade has been a part of our team since his first show in 1992. During the last 20 years, Wade has filled pretty much every operational role and he excelled at each and everyone one of those. Wade was VP Operations for OBO Security & Event Services, overseeing 1000+ Event and Security Staff. In 2010, when OBO Sold, Wade joined with Sean and Jim to assist with the growth of the newly formed ESC, where he assumed the newly created role of Director, Operations. Wade is a dedicated event professional who has only one mantra, exceed the client expectations, during the event and year round.
It all started in 2006 with a summer job at the Canadian National Exhibition. A few seasons as Operations Manager and a Bachelor of Science degree from McMaster University later, Tessa has joined ESC full time as our online ticketing lead, and is your go-to person to getting your event off the ground and taken to new heights. At any one of our events, you can also find her recruiting and training staff, immersed in the world of graphic design, or getting her hands dirty during setup and teardown, usually with a pair of side cutters in her pocket, and always with a smile. An adventure and travel junkie, good luck pinpointing her location as she traverses the globe with her laptop in hand.
Ignatius (Iggy) Thou has been with the Event Staff team for the better part of a decade. Iggy was a Field Manager with ESC’s parent company OBO Security & Event Services and went on to be a Branch Manager for Paladin Security Group when OBO was sold to them in 2010. Iggy re-joined the ESC family in 2011 as Admissions Coordinator and currently works out of the ESC Office in Brandon, MB. Much of Iggy’s summer is spent travelling the event circuit and insuring ESC’s clients are receiving the highest level of customer service. He specializes in Admission Gate Operations. Iggy is a native of Malaysia and is fluent in several dialects of Cantonese.
